July: Re-Lubricate Before You Need To
Northern Illinois summers are warm and humid enough to matter.
Heat drives lubricant out of roller bearings and summer humidity puts a light rust on whatever salt residue was left behind in March. The bearing then runs dry and gritty at the same time. Mid-summer is the second lubrication of the year here, and skipping it is why so many doors turn noisy in September after a quiet spring.
